The OpenDaylight ecosystem continues to grow and mature, with increasing numbers of solution providers incorporating OpenDaylight code into downstream commercial offerings. The “Powered by OpenDaylight” program was created to help end users identify quality OpenDaylight-based solutions, while supporting vendors with their go-to-market strategy for solutions and services based on the OpenDaylight platform. Any individual or organization selling an OpenDaylight-based product or service may apply for the trademark.

You must register to use the “Powered by OpenDaylight” trademark. Once registered, the products with which you use the “Powered by OpenDaylight” trademark must meet the requirements below.

  • The OpenDaylight Project may revoke this license or change these requirements in the future with the approval of the Technical Steering Committee.
  • You may use the “Powered by OpenDaylight” trademark with your products if your products meet the requirements below in the current version of this license or the most recent previous version of this license.
  • Each version of the license is numbered based on the date that the requirements were approved by the OpenDaylight Project.
  • You may use the “Powered by OpenDaylight” trademark only pursuant to the current version of this license. Nothing else grants you the right to use the “Powered by OpenDaylight” trademark.

The first license is labeled “2016-09” as it was approved in September of 2016. The current version of this license, “2016-09”, is described below. You are encouraged to also review the FAQ and OpenDaylight trademark guidelines to understand how to use the mark.

Requirements for trademark registration:

Each product with which the “Powered By OpenDaylight” trademark is used under this license must include in their entirety the following projects from either the current or one of the previous two most recent releases of OpenDaylight:

Odlparent and dependencies derived from the following: yangtools, controller, and MD-SAL.

You must also comply with any trademark usage guidelines stated in the FAQ or otherwise published or made available by the OpenDaylight Project. If you do not comply with any such guidelines, the OpenDaylight Project may revoke your right to use the “Powered by OpenDaylight” trademark.

In no event and under no legal theory, whether in tort (including negligence), contract, or otherwise, unless required by applicable law (such as deliberate and grossly negligent acts) or agreed to in writing, shall the OpenDaylight Project be liable to you for damages, including any direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages of any character arising as a result of this license or out of the use, inability to use or revocation of this license (including but not limited to damages for loss of goodwill, work stoppage, or any and all other commercial damages or losses), even if OpenDaylight Project has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold the OpenDaylight Project harmless for any liability incurred by, or claims asserted against, the OpenDaylight Project by reason of your use of the “Powered by OpenDaylight” trademark.
